Confidence starts with getting to know yourself
“You wouldn’t worry so much about what other people thought about you if you knew how seldom they did.” — Phillip C. McGraw
Ah self comparison. Definitely my biggest challenge when it comes to building up my self-confidence. Can you relate?
Even from a young age, I’ve cared so much about the perception of others. I’ve wondered what they thought of me. I’ve questioned my abilities based on the comparison to those of others. These thought patterns are deep. They’ve intruded on my development of self-confidence because they stand like soldiers in the way of me believing in myself.
It’s a dance that I do and something that I’ve made peace with. Instead of getting upset with myself for self-doubting, I like to be kinder and more patient. I listen to the fear and hear what it’s saying. When I can recognize that the story is something I’ve made up or created from some old thing that happened long ago, I can give myself a squeeze and move forward.
One of the practices I really like when it comes to creating my own confidence and getting past self-comparison is this:
Celebrate me — while celebrating everyone else too.
Instead of a thought of comparison, I replace it with a thought of praise. I play with the idea that there is room for everyone. What makes me ‘ME’ is my strength and no one can take that away. I’m irreplaceable, and so are you. Now that’s something to have confidence in.
Confidence starts with getting to know yourself. If you’re trying to be someone else, your confidence will be, at its core, false. Instead, try getting to know your strengths, your quirks, and your passions. These are the things that are uniquely you. They are the attributes and offerings that you can be 100% bold and confident about! Becoming Bold: The Online Program will walk you through each step of getting to this place of better knowing yourself. Why wait?
You can read about the full program by clicking here. And you can see my whole list of online courses when you click here.
Sending you all the gratitude I can muster for your openness to my thoughts and words. Celebrating each of you behind the scenes and dedicating SO much confidence to you beautiful beings.
